All About Me

A work colleague and good friend Jennifer Farquharson has just launched her own range of handmade greetings cards. Jennifer says her "All About Me" cards are unique, hand made and lovingly created to give you a greeting card suitable for all occasions. I Like The Colours

Bit of a non blog post here but thought I would add this photograph for you to see. I sat my new ribbon-tied gift box on top of my Liberty Book Of Sewing and the colours matched perfectly, oh yeah that's one of my necklaces hanging around there too :)

Gift Boxes

I ordered these gift boxes during the week for my Silver Clay jewellery and love the teal ribbon. I have just now realised that I haven't actually posted anything about my latest exploits in silver clay so hopefully I can get some images on the blog here soon for you to see!

I tweeted asking people to recommend some places to buy gift boxes for jewellery and the Tiny Box Company seemed to come out highly recommended. They have a wonderful selection on recycled boxes, tissue, ribbon etc. I took the plunge and put in an order for some white boxes and the teal ribbon and I love them, just right for what I need, they even have a great insert for resting my necklaces on - perfecto.

So I decided to try out another image - still needed a bit of help in the Photoshop department but I managed once I got going! Penguins in scarves and mittens - what else.

From Halloween to Christmas in one easy blog post! 

I really need to brush up on my photoshop skills, I love to draw and really want to add colour to the background of my scanned images but the steps in between are all very foreign to me! My very patient husband tries his best to help me get somewhere with photoshop but I am a complete nightmare and freak out whenever he tries to show me anything. Anyway this is the outcome of this afternoon's photoshop trial - I quite like it and am going to get a few printed up to see how they look in card format. As for re-creating this process again using Photoshop - hmmm I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to ask for help yet again!

More Gocco

Another picture for you from my frenzied day of Gocco printing a week or two ago. It is a drawing a did a while ago in a pen suitable for burning carbon images onto Gocco Screens. I have printed this illustration before in gold ink and really didn't know if you could re-use the screens or not...... but you can! I made these with the intention of using them for backing cards for some button brooches I have recently made and think they will look quite nice. I am so glad the screens can be used again and again, I'm sure I can come up with lots of uses for the images again in the future. Photos will follow of the brooches once I get them all pinned through the backing cards, hoping it makes them look a little bit more special.

Oh How I Love My Gocco

Oh my how I love my Gocco. I had a great day of mixing inks, making a right old mess and trying hard not to get too much on the carpet, then shifting the rug slightly to cover up one or two little mishaps! I had to take a quick snap of the ink - I love the way even that looks and it makes me feel like a proper print maker again. I printed quite a few bits and pieces with various uses but thought I'd begin with showing you these envelopes, they've got a wee guys standing holding a lollipop in one hand and a little  love heart floats next to him. I printed these in a mixture of a nice golden shimmery ink with a touch of pink added in, it gives a nice pearlescent effect. I couldn't resist printing a further little love heart in the top corner too, just because I wanted to keep printing - well I think that's a good enough excuse. I printed quite a few more things but still need to take some snaps - another time perhaps.

These beautiful paper creations are the work of Amy Earles aka Wool and Water. She has an Etsy shop which you can find here and also an amazing looking website which you can check out here. Amy draws and paints her paper doll creations and then sells the reproductions from her shop. They are all ready for you to cut out, create and play with although I would probably want to frame them and stare at them for a long time.

Lovely Pigeon

Roll Up, Roll Up! Her new circus playkit was recently launched at London's Pulse Trade Fair. The kit contains two sheets of cut out figures along with a circus ring and stands for all your favourite performers. Come along and meet... the bearded lady, tiny tiny elephant, mr and mrs acrobat, the bespectacled bear and many more. Fun for all the family but good enough just to have sitting on your desk and to stare at from time-to-time. I love them all!
