Jars

Today I did a spot of doodling with the intention of making some labels for jam jars - these will hopefully be filled with sweets at some point, but that's a whole other issue. I just want to try and brush up on my really dodgy Photoshop skills of scanning and printing - they really are pretty terrible but I'm determined to get somewhere with it. I got there eventually and printed a non blurry label on about the fifth attempt and have hopefully learned from my mistakes.........

Today's the day!

Introduction to the Owlry by Brittney Lee

Harry Potter by Michelle Romo
It's today! July 15th is finally here, can you believe it - I have waited so long for this! Geek - yes, sad - yes, but I really don't care. So just in case you don't realise Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 is out today. I have scheduled this post because I will be headed straight to the Cinema with some long suffering friends after work and would just be far too excited to type up a blog post! Lets hope this film lives up to my expectations and I leave the cinema satisfied.
The images above have been taken from the My Modern Met blog about the Harry Potter exhibition at Gallery Nucleus, take a look here.

Bjork

Quite a while ago I submitted a pen and ink drawing to the Illustration Rally blog "Ideal Dinner Party Guests". There were a choice of guests to draw and I went with Bjork just because I think she is completely amazing and totally bonkers! I just discovered this screen grab on my desktop whilst doing a little clear-up earlier on tonight and thought I should stick it on the blog before I forget about it.

Mollie Makes Again

It's that time again, the third Mollie Makes magazine is out. I never managed to buy the first one, and promised I would blog a bit about the last one - well that didn't happen either, I haven't in fact even had a thorough read of it yet. It will happen at some point but for now a little flick through the photographs is enough. It really does look pretty but it remains to be seen if I will actually make a start on any of the projects or if it will remain on the coffee table. I am hoping that on the next issue they try to keep away from something crochet on the front cover! If i do get round to making anything then I will blog a bit about it...........famous last words!

Buttons

I've been meaning to get the camera out and take some photographs for a while now but it has just been so dull outside that the light has never been good enough. Today was not any different but sitting right next to the window helped a bit. I spent a while playing around with some of the vintage buttons I have sitting in the studio, grouping colours together and trying to make then into pretty clusters. I really like the pale pinks and peaches of the bottom photo. Playing with old buttons is the best, it's just like having a right good rummage through a sweet shop.

One Week To Go....

One week today I will be off with my long suffering friends to see the new and last (sob) Harry Potter film. I actually won two tickets to go see the live streaming of the London premiere followed by the film last night in Edinburgh but it was just too difficult and really not practical to get there and back (again sob). I have waited this long so one more week can't hurt but oh how I wish I had seen it last night, sigh!

Donna Wilson Creatures

Meg Doll

Mitten Kitten

Mog Doll

Tig
Donna Wilson set up her company in 2003 after making odd knitted creatures for her final show at the Royal College of art. The creatures sold out and since then she has built her business designing and making a collection of curious cushions, luxurious lambswool blankets, and variety of products for you and your home. Her collection is so much more than these strange little beings but I think I will always love them the most out of anything she does.
Originally from Scotland, Donna runs a studio and workshop in London. Her hardworking team knit, sew, pack and send out products to individuals and design shops around the world.
I first came across Donna's lovely knitted creatures in the DCA shop in Dundee, they are equally lovable and weird and I love the expressions on every creature's face. Donna's creatures can be found all over the country or on the Donna Wilson Website here.

Oh My

Image from mooik.tumblr.com
Is this not just the best picture ever - bunny shaped sugar cubes! Okay so it might actually be a little bit twisted to dunk a cute little bunny in your coffee and watch it dissolve before your eyes so why not just have them sitting in the sugar bowl, that's not so bad.

Joel Penkman

These paintings are making me just a little bit hungry and putting me in the mood of a nice cup of tea. You really can't beat a good piece of artwork showing your favourite treat, (my mum is a HUGE fan of the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer!). The artist is Joël Penkman, a freelance graphic designer and artist. Joël studied Fine Arts at Canterbury University, New Zealand, receiving first class honours in Graphic Design. After finishing University Joel moved to the UK and has been pursuing a freelance career ever since.

Cushion Love

These beautiful Moroccan style cushions have been showcased on the Mollie Makes blog, I would love to have the time and patience to attempt to make something as wonderful as this but I fear it would just turn into yet another half finished project to sit and taunt me for a long time. They are giving one away as part of a competition with CrossStitcher Magazine. You can find out details of how to enter on the blog here, I'm off to enter now.......

Dreaming Of The Beach

A few hours spent in the beer garden with friends on Sunday and would you believe it a few hours in the back garden on Monday have made me want more sunshine. It really is a rare thing here in Scotland to be able to spend some time in the great outdoors without several layers of clothes on to keep you warm but I have the glowing pink shoulders to prove I actually managed it. I had a great time sewing up some top secret goodies for a top secret party later on in the year and I did it all outside in the garden, long may the good weather continue.

Made By White And Friends

Collaboration with The Storybook Rabbit

Collaboration with One Little Red Fox

Collaboration with Gemma Correll

I discovered this lovely website this morning after hearing it mentioned as Gemma Correll has collaborated on a new range of Jewellery with them. The Made By White website is a treasure trove of lovely little pieces you really couldn't find anywhere else. The collaborations on jewellery items are really special and the collection looks fantastic. The actual website design is so quirky and I love all the little characters having fun on the home page. I'm off to read the blog now and see what else I can discover about them.
